Protecting full-art Pokémon cards requires a clean workspace and careful handling to prevent scratches, corner dings, and surface wear. 

Step 1: Opening the Pack

• Push down: Slide the cards to the bottom of the booster pack.

• Pull the seam: Gently pull the top foil seam open.

• Avoid scissors: Cutting tools can accidentally slice into the cards.

• Handle by edges: Never touch the front or back surfaces directly. [1, 2]

Step 2: Penny Sleeves (First Line of Defence)

• Use penny sleeves: Always use standard, loose-fitting clear polypropylene sleeves.

• Tap the corner: Gently pinch the sleeve corners to open the mouth.

• Slide carefully: Guide the card in bottom-first to avoid catching corners.

• Do not force: If it resists, slide it out and try again.

• Avoid tight sleeves: Tight deck sleeves can bow or bend holographic cards. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Step 3: Top Loaders (Rigid Protection)

• Prep the loader: Gently flex the top loader to open the gap.

• Insert smoothly: Slide the sleeved card into the rigid plastic top loader.

• Gravity pull: Let the card slide down rather than pushing hard.

• Gentle tap: Tap the bottom edge on a playmat to seat it.

• Use pull-tabs: Consider sticky tabs on the sleeve for easy removal. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Long-Term Storage

• Store upright: Keep top loaders vertical to prevent pressure warping.

• Control climate: Keep cards away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity.

• Use a storage box: Place them in dedicated, snug-fitting card boxes. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
